XLRI - Pros and Cons

Relevance - 4/5 Comprehensiveness - 3.5/5 XLRI has a trimester structure, with exams at the end of each term and quizzes in between the term at the discretion of the professor in charge of the course. The curriculum is largely case based and hence you learn a lot about business and what problems they face. However in some subjects the learning is not step by step and misses some key coverage areas for beginners

Companies come for various roles like strategy, sales and marketing, product management, operations, etc. Some of the notable recruiters are BCG, HUL, Amazon, P&G. For the 2023 placement process, there were 117 recruiters with 484 domestic offers and 3 international offers, including 30 new recruiters.

The Summer Internship Placement Process happens in September to October of the first year. The lateral final placement process (for those students with required level of work experience) begins in November - December of the 2nd year. The common pool process ( for everyone else) is in January. 100% placements are typical

Scholarships are available on pure merit and merit cum need basis. The complete cost for the 2 year BM 23 - 25 program is around 30 lakhs. Paid Live Projects are available to take up during coursework.

Campus Life is quite good. Many clubs and committees means that events happen every other day. Hostel is kept clean, you will have single rooms, washing machines on each floor. There are eateries, a salon, dry cleaning services, a cobbler, etc on campus itself.

Hostel facility is quite good, with single rooms and cleaning staff available Mon-Sat to clean your rooms as per your convenience. Bathrooms are cleaned everyday. Mess facility is decent. Quality of water from the cooler is tested regularly

Admission to XLRI is through the XAT exam which is conducted yearly, usually in the month of January. The application form is found on the website of XAT. XAT has lower cutoffs for women candidates and for those from non- engineering backgrounds. There is no caste based reservation system.

There was no Group Discussion during my admission process. A written essay question is asked in XAT itself and the GD/PI process only had an interview. To prepare, I went through current affairs, the budget, my CV, the college and it's history, what I was interested to learn, etc.
