Course Curriculum Overview

3

A few faculties are not upto the mark while rest are IIM standard, the curriculum is standard and since we follow trimester pattern volume of subjects covered is high but depth of knowledge gained maybe lowered. However, teaching methods of few faculties are exceptionally good which keeps you interested throughout the course. There will be one cycle test and assignements for internval evaluation for 50 marks whereas end semester exam for 50 marks

Placement Experience

1.5

For summers student should take responsiblity for their Internship, relying on Placecomm may or may not get you placed. For finals, Placecement representatives are choosen through a series of process by batch addressing etc. They are responsible for bringing companies to the batch and help the batch in getting placed. It works this way, batch is lucky if that person is competetant and otherwise if not. Unfortunately we are not. Highest package is around 15LPA and lowest is 5, my plans after degree is to prepare govt exams since I value job security

Fees and Financial Aid

Compared to other B-schools of similar standards , the NITT provides exceptional value for money for the course offered. This year there may be a hike in fees. The complete cost of the program from DOMS,NITT is 4.5L .Scholarships are availed through many scholarship programs like NSP, Military scholarship, alumni ,PMSS but 1 student can only avail 1 scholarship throughout the program.

Campus Life

3.5

I'm pretty unsocial and enjoy being alone but the campus is very vibrant, spacious ,lovely, lush with lot of bio-diversity like peococks, dogs, snakes and bird varieties. Lot of books are available in the library, there is one library in the department as well. The central library is a place which is so elegant and I visit that place for my calmness. Lots of clubs and committes are availble for UG dpeartments but PG there are only few. Everything is student driven, fest in NITT is popular all over India

Hostel Facilities

2.5

wifi network, atleast boys have options to choose between 6 mess while girls has only 2 options. Quality bearable but worst on certain days. Hostel in 1st year is shared rooms and in 2nd year single sharing. Most of the problems related hostel remains unattended like proper washing machine and wifi.

Admission

To get into the NIT the application fee cost around 2krs and the dates are usually form Jan last week to mid of feb. the reservation benefits are issued as per the govt of India as it is a govt subsidised college. The frequency of semester exams are thrice in a year, they follow a trimester pattern throughout the course and it is kind of difficult. New courses can be added and curriculum can be updated for meeting the industry needs like AI used in industries automation, marketing, finance etc.

Interview Experience

3.5

There was Interview since it was a covid rebound batch, there might be offline interview in upcoming years . Freshers are asked question based on their UG while Experienced proffessionals may be asked with Job roles and responsibilities. I was so comfortable and natural in my interview process as I was preparing for my UPSC

Thiagarajar School of Management - [TSM], Post Graduate Diploma in Management [PGDM]
Reviewed on Mar 1, 2020

Admission:

Thiagarajar School of Management being one of the premier institutes in South India and PGDM being its Flagship Program, I had no hesitation in choosing Tsm. The high advantage of PGDM is that you will be involved with a lot of practical sessions rather than classroom learning. Moreover, PGDM is offered only by institutes recognized by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and TSM has been also awarded NBA and NAAC Accreditation. Pgdm is where you can build your soft skills and the curriculum is flexible and does not have to follow university standards and also can be changed by the institutes according to the industry requirements. For admission, You need to take up entrance tests like MAT.CAT,XAT,CMAT and the candidate must have 3 years of bachelor's degree from a recognized university by the UGC. Candidates can apply for admission once the dates are released and the shortlisted candidates need to attend the GD followed by the PI. Candidates from Tamil Nadu can take up the state level entrance examination TANCET and students can apply for counseling and selected candidates are exempted from the GD/PI process and can directly take up admission.
