Remarks

KJ Somaiya Institute of Management accepts various scores for admission, including CAT, XAT, NMAT, CMAT, and others. I was accepted through NMAT, with a score of 234/360, well over the needed cut-off of 225. The application form, case analysis, and personal interview (CAPI) process went off without a glitch. Their shortlisting procedure was a major roadblock for me because they did not provide a waiting list as other institutes did, and we had no way of knowing whether we would get admitted or not. This caused a state of confusion and anxiety among the students. To avoid this, the admission committee should publish a waiting list so that the students can feel at peace right away. Apart from that, the information about the admission process and the application form can be found here simsr.somaiya.edu/en/admission/mba

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

My course is Retail Management, it tells about the nitty-gritties of the retail industry and also marketing techniques. The faculty is quite good and have a good grasp on this subject. We have three trimesters in a year and if one has studied properly in the class then exams are not that hard to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Internship opportunities are good in college, companies like GEP, HSBC, Accenture, ICICI, ITC, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, etc have visited campus and have provided good profiles. With internships, a good amount of Live projects opportunities are also there which gives good exposure of how corporate works and of profiles like business development, market research, etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

College placements are so far going great for both final and summer internships. For Summer internships almost everyone is placed by now and same is the case for final placements. A good number of companies are visiting college, including GEP, McVities, ICICI, HSBC, Accenture, Salesforce, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship opportunity in college is on the basis of need, merit, and on some other criteria as well, details of which can be found on their website. Fees are around 16-17 lakhs for two years without a hostel and from this year the fees are hiked up to 18-19 lakhs.

Campus Life

5

Life at the campus is great, the college has a various number of committees including Dance, Singing Clubs, etc, These committees give us great exposure and help in building the holistic development of an individual.

Interview Experience

4.5

For the admission, there were two rounds, case analysis followed by personal interview round. There was no GD round as such for the admission process. The process was pretty smooth and for these two rounds I brushed up my general knowledge and undergrad main subjects.

Placement Experience:

The average Lpa of the college is 9 lpa so it is good. Marketing gets 100% placement as compared to other streams. There is booth on campus and off campus placement. And the placement cells bring good companies and there are chances of PPO also.

College management is not that good, which I felt is need to be improved. making everything student centric makes it difficult for students as well as college to be organised.

We learned a lot from the curriculum and the college itself. My journey was a mixed bag of feelings with many sweet and sour moments. The classroom sessions were fun and so were the field visits and management activities like webinars or mock marketing competitions.

The university gives you a great exposure to shape up your life for a great future. There's absolutely no racism and everyone is treated equally. This is the only institute in pune where girls and boys are found in almost equal numbers. In fact girls are encouraged to become entrepreneurs.
