College Review

A person can get admission to this college through JEXPO which is an entrance exam held once a year. The eligibility for JEXPO is that: 1. One must be Indian 2. The students must pass class 10 with West Bengal Board or with equivalent boards 3. The candidates must be born before July 1, 2007. The official website for polytechnic related queries, JEXPO related exams can be solved through the official website which is wbscte.co.in.On this site, we can access the application form of JEXPO. The application form fee for JEXPo is Rs.500. JEXPO is held around the month of September. Else the admission process is pretty good. As I am from an electrical branch so a candidate must be around the rank of 10500 to get into Ranaghat Govt. Polytechnic for GENERAL category and for others like Sc, ST would around 20000. Well, cutoff rank varies year by year but the rank would be closer to what I have stated. In the case of reservation, there is 22% reservation for SC and 6% for ST and 5% for physically challenged students.

I chose Electrical Engineering because of my interest for this branch or may I say the subjects related to this branch.In my branch there are 60 students who took admission and the teachers and staff related or involved in my branch are pretty good and highly qualified. Their teaching methods are also very good onen jsut needs to pay attention. So the exams are are divided into two internals and two semeters in a year. If I talk about the exams then 1st year isn't that hard but from 2nd year it gets a bit tougher.

Companies like Essel, Propock limited, Apollo, CEAT etc are the companies that offered the roles for internships. The students are mainly placed in the position of asst. managers. The companies that offered jobs are pretty good.

From 5th semester the students become eligible for campus placements. Different companies visit each year like CEAT,and many other such kind of companies and in average 60%-70% students gets placed in those companies in an average. In average companies offer aroung Rs.10000-Rs.15000 and the highest that anyone has got is as per my knowledge is Rs.28000 monthly.My plan is to do Btech after getting the diploma degree.

The admission fees during 1st admission in every year are Rs.200, the tuition fee is Rs.50 per month, caution deposit is Rs.35 and session charge is Rs.50.There are different kinds of scholarships though there aren't any for students belonging to GENERAL caste at least there isn't any that I know about. But there are different kinds of financial assistance for students belonging to SC and ST. It's my 3'rd year now and the off campus campusing has started and campusing in this college is pretty decent. Companies like CEAT, Dixon Technology Ltd., etc. give placements and a good number of students gets placed each year from this year.

There's annual fest which is conducted around the month of January but it varies and sometimes it occurs in the month of March.The library in the campus is pretty good as well and there are a varities of books present in the library and the students need to make a library card to issue books.As the college is pretty close to ranaghat Railway Jn. so transportation is not a problem for the students of this college. There is a sports day conducted once a year.If I talk about social groups then we all are linked to one another via whatsapp groups.
