Entrance Preview

No entrance exams. I was selected out of my HSC exam results. I chose B.Sc. Physics because of the fact that the employment opportunities were higher compared to other courses and also, I have a particular interest towards Physics as a subject.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is in line with that of the Madras University. I would rate it better than that of the MU, because of the fact that the college was one of the firsts to be declared Autonomous and the curriculum is wide and challenging to understand the basics of the subject you have taken up to major in.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, After the 5th semester, students are expected to do an Internship with companies of their preference and companies which employ people from their particular majoring subject. I got an opportunity to work with Spring India Pvt. Ltd. as I was a Physics major from Loyola. It proved quite useful. But there is no stipend for the internship we do.

Placement Experience

4

The placements at Loyola is one of the best in colleges across India. For an Arts and Science college the managed to place 70% of the students in 2007 while I studied there. A total of 58 companies were invited. The effort taken by Loyola Placement Officer is quite good compared to other colleges. If you do not have an arrears, you are most likely to be placed before completing your degree.

College Events

5

There are many technical, cultural and management festivals in Loyola happening throughout the year. The Ovations is one of the biggest festivals which happens on a span of 3 days inviting whose and whose of the celebrities and also bringing out the best creativity and talent out of the students.

Exam Structure

The exam structure consists of 2 terms exams and 1 Final exam in each semester. The system is not fail proof, but it always gives you the chance to try and pass the exam in a single try. A minimum of 50% from term exams and 50% from Semester exams are mandatory to clear a subject you are majoring in. 40% is the passing level and below that means you repeat the subject again.

Admission

The admission process is quite simple. You get the application form from Loyola office or download the application form from their website and pay the required amount for the application processing. After your results are published, the Admission committee at the College will scrutinize your application for further details and marks scored and the feasibility of the particular course in general and the seats will be allotted.
