Remarks

University welcomes every category students. People with good vibes but sometimes good knowledge with bad gang. So it makes sometimes a unusual situation for gang fights. But administration is really strict about this fights.

Course Curriculum Overview

Biotechnology was 2years regular program along with 2semesters each year. A dissertation program is the mandatory factor in last semester. This is actually bound students to do real time life science project in various market. So we got actual idea about research & development site, commercial site, production department, wet lab & dry lab, other non traditional fields of life science like marketing structure of international medical equipments, international medical coding & billing, CDM(Clinical Data Management). Now I am working as an American medical billing executive in one American based company in Bangalore.

Placement Experience

3.5

Our institute is a great example of placement. IT sector industries are the most crowd making campus in our university. Hotel Taj also comes for HHA department. This institution has a high value for internship.

College Events

4.5

This university is not only for education but for extra curricular activities. For welcome ceremonies take 15days to complete maximum department. Along with annual day of various hostels, foundation day of university, world theater day, Alumni of department, science seminar, political science, farewells, convocation & so on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is normal for regular course. For self finance course like Computer science,ITM, Biotechnology,HHA course fee is affordable. This institute welcomes every category from society who can full fill their dream. All feel themselves prestigious to be part of it.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes our university has Facility for scholarships. If any candidate is college topper or university topper & got admission in this university then that student will be eligible for scholarships. Excluding that for PhD holders also some scholarship are available. I did not availed any one.

Campus Life

In our campus girls are more than boys. If we will put in ratio column then it will be 2:1. In each month there will be debate competition, group discussion, seminars, theatre plays, painting competition. I used to participate in group dance, street plays, group discussion, debates.

Hostel Facilities

Yes I opted hostel & as per entrance rank I got hostel. My hostel name was West hostel. Now it became boys hostel. It has 200 capacity. Maximum were 4sharing rooms. Students who get good marks, they qualify for single room. Exactly I didn't remember the admission money but monthly charge was 2000 to 3000rs. It includes bed, food,WiFi,TV,computer rooms etc. Hostel has its own extra curricular activities for different events, annual day & so on.

Alumni/Alumna

Our department is the oldest department after English & Political science. So Alumni is really large, wide spread & good. Every year we meet our ancestors in a really good manners who are reputed in society. Recent seniors are not in much contact because all are busy in race of life. But all are connected in social media.

Admission

Ravenshaw University is the most prestigious institution in Odisha. Every year ,most of pupils want to be part of this. For graduation, this university needs career mark based selection but in other hand for higher degrees like post graduation,PhD needs state level entrance exam. Every year in month of June entrance exam held & cut off percentage is different & it is high than other institutions. Being a life science student, I always wanted to pursue the dream of biotechnologist. This institution was good & affordable for this course. Faculties are foreign degree holders. So it was a perfect combination that selected in state leve entrance & part of this prestigious university where my father was also a student & many more reputed figures of Odisha.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
