Remarks

I do have several complaints about the administration staff of the college. They are absolutely unprofessional when it comes to dealing with students, behave in a very hostile manner and couldn't care less about the inconveniences caused to students by their delays in response. It is absolutely garbage and I don't see the staff changing in the coming years either. The one huge demerit of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

To be honest, the curriculum on paper seems legitimate and quite intensive, but the practical approach to solving problem may have been better given that IT is a practical driven field. Also, there are certain limitations when it comes to choositthe subject of your choice to study. However compared to quite a lot of colleges in the city, it is quite above the average mark.

Placement Experience

4

The companies that participate annually in the TnP of this particular college are TCS, Wipro, Cognizant & LNT to name a few. Apart from these big shot companies, tens, if not hundreds, of local companies participate in the placements on campus. Talking about IT particularly, there are a vast number of companies that hire recent graduates.

College Events

4.5

Many events take place in SCET. There is the annual cultural fest named Verve that goes on for 3 days consecutively. GTU tech fests happen time to time. And it's not a surprise to see almost every student participating in all the events that take place.

Fee Structure And Facilities

When I got admitted in 2016, the fees for engineering program was 97000 per year, which to me seems quite fair. Coming to the question of transparency, the college does provide it and lets us know exactly what the costs are for. However, the current tuition fee being raised to over 1. 2 lacs per annum is quite expensive when it comes to the actual worth of the degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college doesn't offer any scholarships as per my knowledge, but students can get external scholarships which cut their costs in half. Do note that it is a merit based scholarship and you need to prove your financial needs.

Campus Life

Overall I'm elated about being an alumni of such a wonderful college with students from diverse backgrounds, different talents, not to mention the great campus. In my 4 years at SCET, I've never experienced bullying or ragging first hand, nor have ever heard of any such cases. Yes there is politics involved when it comes to electing the student community General Secretary and Class Representatives, but to an extent it is a healthy competition.

Hostel Facilities

I live in and around 7-8 kms away from the college so it is obvious that I didn't require the hostel services. However, from the reviews I've got from my peers who have stayed in hostel, I reckon it is much better than most of the hostel services provided by colleges throughout the state.

Alumni/Alumna

In my experience, I haven't heard of the alumni network of senior students. Maybe I'm wrong about it but I prefer to keep my words to a minimum on a topic I don't have much idea about.

Admission

I got in through the Gujarat ACPC which is a ranking based on performance for all the students of Gujarat, on merit, considering my HSC result and JEE result. As SCET is reputed for its IT and CO departments in Engineering, and considering that it is located in my home town pushed towards my biased selection of the college.

Faculty

4

Overall throughout my graduation, there have been around 10-12 faculty members, excluding the lab assistants, and in my view, they have immense knowledge in the field of IT and related domains. Of course I do have complaints with the teaching methods of a few of the faculty members, but when it comes to expertise, each and every member of the staff is up to date with the latest technology and services.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement varies between 4-8 LPA after graduation from GLS University. Almost 65% students gets the placement after getting degree which is still not bad for Tier 3 college. Campus placement also depends on Course you opted for and level of your skills. Companies like TCS, wipro, HCL, ICICI, Asian paints, and many more visited GLS University for campus Placement. Companies choose candidates from various Domains with certain rules and regulations followed by Universities guidelines. Candidate which has plan for MBA can also build strong foundation from choosing BBA course. But the overall packages still feels low as compared to living expense of today's world.
