the selection of HPNLU ,shimla was informed choice given that it was leading NLU and also beacause of its distinct academic atmosphere . comaparision and choice of colleges . as i was applying to the leading NLU`s such as NLSIU, NALSAR and private such as symbiosis law school . although i got admission NLU prayagraj and lower ranked NLU`S . I selected HPNLU due to the tough programe that is being offered and the prestige of NLU label , which is more recognised in legal school communities than most of the private law schools . ADMISSION PROCESS HPNLU is offered an admission process that is simplified by CLAT * eligibility- the candidates should have 10+12 with minimum 45 % (40% in case of SC/ST) *Entrance exam - CLAT is the only acceptable exam. *cutoff- gen category the closing position is generally in the 1500-2200 range ,thus it is stiff. * experience :- the centralized counseling (CAP) of CLAT consortium made the entire part of the process to be vivid , hassle free....Read More

I did not apply to any other college. I got this college based on my rank. I only gave Clat. I chose this because it is what I got. When I was allotted this college via tha allotment system, I chose to get feedback about it. I mostly got positive feedback for HPNLU. However, one of the senior who graduated back in 2022 asked me to choose another college due to the restrictive access this college has. I did not apply to any college as such. As soon as you're alloted HPNLU, you must submit the required fees within the required time as mentioned by the administration in the admission form. You must fill the admission form on the ERP. ERP is a section on HPNLU Website. One must fill all the necessary details asked and these shouldn't be false. These details are to be updated each year to ensure transparency. The eligibility of the course is to clear the CLAT entrance exam which offers admission to the 23 NLUs. To appear for this exam, one must score minimum 45% for general category and 40% for SC/ST in 12th standard. Hence, National law university , shimla only takes admissions based on CLAT ranking. My clat rank was 1847. And the cut-off is 1300-2800 in general category and 20000 for the reserved categories. HPNLU also offers 25% reservation for Himachal Pradesh Domicile candidates and the cut-off goes upto 8000. The cut-off for the vacant seats may go higher. The application form is available on the official website of HPNLU. The admission process is : Appear for clat exam , participate in the counselling process, as per your preference list , if you get admission in HPNLU, then you will receive an official mail, after that they will assist in admission.
