Remarks

The hostel rooms you get are way too small for even two of them to live comfortably. But they stuff in 3 students per room, Upon that they conjust your room with study tables, chairs, buckets(which do not fit under the bed) table mates, and they provided so. only to look good during inspections done by AICTE or DG shipping. Once upon a time Amet gave 100% placement to the students, however now the students getting placed from GME is very little. It is nothing wrong about the institute rather the entire field is not in a good position.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

GME is one year full- time pre- sea training course divided into two semesters. This is a conversation course approved by the Directorate General of Shipping and intended for mechanical engineering or naval architecture graduates aspiring to become marine engineers. Marine engineering involves engineering of boats, ships, oil rigs and other marine vessels. The discipline essentially deals with the designing, maintenance and construction of naval vessels and ships.

Placement Experience

2

Once upon a time Amet gave 100% placement to the students, however now the students getting placed from GME is very little. It is nothing wrong about the institute rather the entire field is not in a good position. I would like to make a point here none of the institutes in Tamil Nadu is offering placements to GME students other than AMET. For marine engineering the placement is quite good companies like Maersk, chevron etc. And you should have some good grades.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Course Fee (including boarding and uniform )is rs. 33000/-. Caution deposit is rs. 10000/-. No additional charges nothing. They provide a transparent fee breakdown details. As far as this course is concern this fee is a feasible one. Lot of other colleges charging above 5lakhs for the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not opted for any scholarships or educational loans. There are facilities to avail the same. College offers scholarship opputunities for economically backward students, fishermans family etc.

Campus Life

4.5

It has Air-conditioned reading room and the library opens till midnight. It provides better security to the students along with 24hrs emergency facilities. Ensuring Maritime Training with International Standard AMET University had provided the best infrastructure in terms of class rooms with modern teaching aids, well equipped workshops for practical training, Marine workshop for hands on training on Marine Auxiliaries, Ship in campus, well furnished Hostel, Canteen facilities, Indoor & Outdoor games, Swimming pool, Medical facilities & an overall congenial atmosphere for learning by the students.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes. Hostel rooms are pretty good. Three people share one room and bathroom attatched. Hostel fees and mess fee are included in the course feeand has separate hostel for boys and girls with better mess facilities serving nutritious food prepared in hygienic condition. A cafeteria & canteen serves cuisines of various tastes.

Alumni/Alumna

AMET University has formed an Association in the name and style of “AMET Alumni Association - A3 with a main objective for a sustained relationship and interaction among its passed out students. It also gives me immense pleasure that within a very short span of time, the passed out students of the AMET University evinced much interest to associate themselves with this Forum and around 12210 of them have so far enrolled as members.

Admission

I opted for this course as I was interested in merchant navy. After completing btech in mechanical engineering I came to know that there is a one year course for btech graduates for becoming marine engineer so I opted this course. College conducted an entrance exam in kochi based on your skills aptutude etc. I got cleared the entrance exam and the second stage was an interview at chennai after clearing the interview I got confirm my seat. The admission process completed on august itself and the class started on18 dec 2019. Expecting our course will complete in 2020 itself.

Faculty

4.5

Let's start with the staffs. For our batch all the marine engineering subjects were taken by experienced chief engineers and electricals were thought by a electrical engineer. Mind you these veterans have more than 30 years of experience, so you won't find anything wrong with their performance. Now coming to the practical part. Practical staffs are very experienced, talented and will teach you lot of skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The specific aspect which is great future on IT Field of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course. The curriculum prepared me to solve tough real-world logical aptitude test and coding test. The course curriculum is only based on the theory in several areas. My suggestion is to improve that too in practical manner for better real-world understanding. The frequency and the timing of my exams along with my perspective on the difficulty level is 2hrs.
