Remarks

The college needs to upgrade itself and it's curriculum if they want to produce quality engineers.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is okay but not up to the mark of making a graduate industry ready. It focuses on theoretical and lacks to justify the course. Being the first (batch of 2016-2020) there was and is a lot of challenges and problems regarding studies, lab and so on. My opinion is that the present curriculum isn't enough to secure a good placement. One needs to rise above the institutional teachings and prepare individually to secure a good placement.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement for our branch is not good as compared to other branches. Only two companies visited or college. The placement criterion depends upon the company. Some company have written and interview while some have direct interview. Being the first batch it is difficult to bring companies to our colleges as there is no one to guide. To apply for an internship or summer training one to search by themselves. The college doesn't take an initiative to find an internship for you. However, the college will help you in papers works. I did my summer training from DRL, DRDO TEZPUR referred by one of our asst. professor.

College Events

3.5

Every year the college host techno-cultural fest known as EKARIKTHIN on the month of March for 2-3 days. There are lots of technical and cultural events where the participation is largely from other colleges and schools. 5k+ people attend every year. The management related to budget and the event is done by the students. Ekarikthin is the biggest techno-cultural fest in Nagaland.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's feasible. There is not any additional charges to be paid. The payment is done through SB collect. The students can opt for direct transfer or demand draft in case they are unable to pay through SB collect. Yes the college is transparent when it comes to fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

I'm pursuing my bachelor's with SBI's education loan. I had to fill up the loan form from the bank and submit the college admission receipt to the bank. Initially we had to pay the first semester fees which was later refunded when the loan was sanctioned.

Campus Life

2.5

The ratio of girl to boy is approximately 1:4. The college host techno-cultural fest every year on the month of March. Not Nagaland being the new NIT lacks in extracurricular activities and doesn't have proper sports centre. However, one can enjoy futsal, basketball, table-tennis, basket ball and more. The college has gym with all the required necessities. There are clubs which take initiative in organizing literary or extra- curricular activities. The winners are awarded with medals and certificates. The labs are good and all the required equipment are setup which are top notch. One won't be disappointed when it comes to lab. The students are from different background from all part of the country.

Hostel Facilities

3

Every students need to stay in hostel. Nobody is allowed to say out of the campus. It's a residential hostel with a few minutes walk to lecture hall. It's a two seater room. The academic allots the room and the block during our first semester. There are sufficient rooms for the present number of students.

Alumni/Alumna

I did not have much interaction with the alumni or the seniors but they give a helping hand if needed.

Admission

To get into an IIT or NIT one needs appear an entrance examination which is JEE. JEE MAINS is for admission in NITs and other central funded institutes whereas JEE ADVANCED is for admissions in IITs. The entrance examination is conducted every year on the first week of April and the result is issued after a month or two. However one needs to clear JEE MAINS to qualify for JEE ADVANCED. To secure a seat in NITs and other central funded institutes the aspirant should have a valid JEE main score and same goes for the IITs but with a valid JEE advanced score. The students should participate in an online counselling and they are give a seat and branch based on their rank and score. There are 7 counselling rounds during which an aspirant can float, freeze or pass the option. After all the counselling round are over the payment is done through demand draft. I gave my first preference as mechanical engineering and got a seat in NIT Nagaland as per my rank and score in JEE mains exam. I choose mechanical engineering as I was interested in automobiles and designing. I had a passion since my childhood and I'm following it.

Faculty

3

There are four lectures in our branch as of now. All the lectures are have different specialization. The average age of the lectures is 36 years. Three lectures out of four have completed their doctorate in their own specialized field. One lecturer completed his M. Tech and is pursuing PhD. The lectures specialises in field like manufacturing, composite materials, mechatronics, EDM machines and so on. None of the lectures have industry experience or certifications. Till date they were able to clarify our doubts.

Course Curriculum Overview:

After learning about all the different courses I thought of going for soil science as it is the basis of all the other agricultural sciences. Practical classes exposes us to various real world experiences. The only area where our college can improve is providing better facilities for practicals. The frequency is timing of exams is very comfortable.

Admission:

St. Joseph University is located in Nagaland and has a beautiful study environment. To get admission, the student should have completed class 12 with at least 50 percent from any recognized Indian Board. Then the students will have to give the entrance exam and based on their merit in the exam they will be selected for the university.

Remarks:

The college is lacking in terms of facilities which was present in colleges with lower cutoffs. Working so hard for JEE and then getting a college like this one demotivates and irritates a lot. Positive things are like the campus is beautiful and a few alumini are good.

Yes, the college is very budget friendly and the college is located right near the city. It faces no difficulty in electricity, water and internet. It has almost all the equipments and tools needed. One drawback is that the college doesn't have a permanent campus.
