Review of IIIT Hyderabad, 2019

The mess food is amazing but academic load makes the social life suffer. There are regular assignment deadlines and exams due to which students get less time for other activities and going out. Due to which some people do find it hard to cope.

The course curriculum is one of the best for Computer Science courses in India. The exam structure is 1 mid semester examination, 1 end semester examination and 2 quizzes for each course in a semester.

The placements are comparable to the top IITs like IIT Bombay. The median salary for CS graduates is around 23 lakhs p.a. The college also has a 100% placement record. No, the college doesn't provide paid internships as it promotes research over internships in vacations.

The college has several small events organized throughout the year including festival celebrations. The college also has an annual cultural fest called Felicity, which being the solo college fest has a lot of hype created around it.

Being a private institution, the fee is more than the government funded colleges, but lesser than some of the other private colleges like BITS Pilani or Vellore Institute of Technology. The total fee for a semester is around 1.7 lakhs.

Though I haven't taken a student loan, I know that the college does provide student loans through the SBI bank banch in the campus. The student has to submit some documents and do some documentation and can easily avail the loan.

The college is not known for extracurricular activities as such though we have sports facilities like football, basketball, tennis, table tennis, hockey, volleyball, etc. The labs are the best of the kind in India and have decent funding too.

The hostel infrastructure is really nice over here with good water quality and geysers in washrooms along with decent sized rooms. Regular cleaning of rooms is provided, and a hostel caretaker is designated to solve hostel matters.

The seniors and alumni are very helpful. Being a college with less number of students, we know each other by names atleast, and can take their help for any matter related to work or college life. They are always happy to help.

Admission to bachelors degree for Computer Science and Electronics Engineering is through JEE Mains mode. Admission for dual degree courses like CSD, ECD, CLD and CND is through another exam conducted by the institute called UGEE. Also people who've qualified olympiads like IOI or KVPY can get admitted to the dual degree courses through interviews.

The college has some of the finest brains of the research area and the industry as professors. But there are some professors who are experts in their respective domains, but are not great teacher and doubt solver though.
