Which college under CU is better for zoology hons, Ashutosh or Vidyasagar?

SR
Sanghita Roy Posted On : October 30th, 2021
B.Sc Economics Honour, Asutosh College (2017)

Both Ashutosh College and Vidyasagar College are reputed colleges under CU. Both have their own advantages. If you are only looking for quality education then choosing Vidyasagar College will be better for you. The only disadvantage here is the administration and they are not cooperative.

On the other hand, Ashutosh will offer you better infrastructure. Academics at Aduthose are also decent. Both colleges will offer similar facilities.

So, you can choose either of these two colleges according to your convenience.

Which one would be better Bethune or Asutosh College for a B.Sc. in psychology?

P
ProtocolPenguin Posted On : February 27th, 2026

I opted for the Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} in Psychology at Asutosh College because it is one of the top colleges for this subject under Calcutta University. The faculty members are highly qualified and supportive, but the course can be tough.

The exam structure is semester-based, and while I appreciate the rigorous academic environment, it can be stressful due to the amount of material we need to cover. The fees are approximately 13k per semester, which is somewhat on the higher side. Scholarships are available, particularly for students facing financial difficulties. Overall, it's a decent choice if you're serious about pursuing psychology as a career.

Which college is better Asutosh College or Xaviers College?

ServerSalmon Posted On : February 26th, 2026

When I compare Asutosh College to Xaviers College, I can say that Asutosh College offers a more affordable fee structure for the Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} in Geography. My fees are around 8000 per semester, which is quite economical. The curriculum is rich, and we get to do a lot of practical work and field studies, which I really appreciate.

The campus life is decent too, with various events and a friendly environment, but there could be more extracurricular activities. Overall, I think Asutosh provides a great education and good value for money.

What are some reviews of Asutosh College Kolkata?

S
ServerSeaLion Posted On : February 26th, 2026

As a student of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, I find Asutosh College to be a decent choice. The curriculum is engaging, and the professors are generally helpful, but I feel there could be more focus on practical applications rather than just theory.

The fees are quite manageable at around 6,000 per semester, which is great for a government college. However, the admission process was a bit stressful due to the high cutoff, but thankfully I made it in.

The campus life includes various cultural events, but I wish there were more frequent classes to keep us engaged.

Absolutely not! Asutosh College is a co-ed public institution. The Jogomaya Devi College, which runs in the morning, is exclusively for girls. On the other hand, Shyamaprasad College, which operates in the evening, is also co-ed. Hope this clears things up for you!

What are the three best and worst things about Asutosh College Kolkata?

K
KernelKingfisher Posted On : February 21st, 2026

You can't really pin down exactly three best or worst things about Asutosh College. It's more about how well you adjust. At first, I had a tough time getting used to the raw atmosphere there, but eventually, I embraced the lively environment. I realized that not everything would align with my expectations, and this unpredictability taught me a lot.

There was a time when student unions blocked our teachers from entering and leaving. Coming from a strict ICSE background, this upset me. But later, I understood their reasons and saw how their actions led to positive changes, which made me feel better about it.

So, it's tough to list good or bad things about Asutosh College. If you adapt quickly, you'll have a good experience. If not, it might feel tough at first, but eventually, it turns into memorable moments.

Hows the life of a non Bengali student in colleges of Kolkata like Asutosh College or Scottish Church College? Do you regret leaving your hometown and studying at KolkATA?

Q
QuantumQuoll Posted On : February 21st, 2026

Studying at Scottish Church College as a non-Bengali has been a mixed bag. The Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Physics) curriculum is challenging and the faculty consists of Ph.D. holders who really know their stuff. I appreciate the supportive environment among students, but sometimes I feel like an outsider, especially during cultural events. The examination structure can be quite strict, and I had to adjust to the workload.

Despite the initial struggles with adaptation, I believe the academic exposure here is worth it, and I don't regret my choice of coming to Kolkata.
