How to Check the JoSAA 2026 Seat Matrix?

The seat matrix can be viewed without logging in. Follow the steps below to access the institute-wise data.

  • Visit the official portal at josaa.nic.in.
  • Click on the Seat Matrix link on the homepage.
  • Select the institute type, institute name and academic programme.
  • Choose the gender and reservation category from the dropdown.
  • Click Submit to view the seat count.

How Does the Seat Matrix Affect Choice Filling?

The seat matrix is the base data for every JoSAA allotment round. Higher seat counts in a programme widen the closing rank in later rounds. Candidates should compare the 2026 numbers with last year before locking branch and institute preferences.

Choice filling on the candidate portal is open. Each filled choice is treated as a binding preference during seat allotment. Adding more choices improves the chance of a confirmed seat in early rounds.

A First for JoSAA 2026

IISc Bengaluru has entered the JoSAA counselling pool for the first time this year. Nine additional GFTIs have also joined the 2026 cycle. This is the widest institute pool the authority has handled in a single counselling season.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Log in to the candidate portal at josaa.admissions.nic.in with your JEE Main or JEE Advanced credentials.
  2. Open the seat matrix page and note the seat count for every target programme.
