Top branches, including Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, recorded average CTCs around ₹40 lakh per annum

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has completed Phase 1 of placements for the BTech 2026 batch. In this phase, 304 students were placed out of 487 registered candidates, resulting in an overall placement rate of 62.42%, as reported by the institute after the phase concluded.
During Phase 1, the average cost to the company (CTC) for the BTech 2026 batch exceeded ₹30 lakh per annum. Several academic departments reported higher average and median salary packages compared to previous years. Recruiters offered roles in software development, analytics, and core engineering sectors during this phase.
Placement results varied across different programmes. Among the circuital branches, the Artificial Intelligence programme recorded a placement rate of 83.33 per cent, indicating strong demand for students from this discipline.

According to the institute, the highest international package offered during Phase 1 of placements stood at ₹2.5 crore per annum. On the domestic front, two students received job offers worth ₹1.1 crore per annum. In addition, four students secured domestic packages ranging between ₹75 lakh and ₹1 crore per annum.
In total, 24 international offers were made across various academic departments. The institute further stated that this is the highest package ever offered to a student since IIT Hyderabad was established in 2008.

Computer Science and Engineering recorded a placement rate of 83.05 per cent among registered students, while Mathematics and Computing achieved a placement rate of 77.78 per cent. The average salary packages offered to students from these programmes were reported to be around ₹40 lakh per annum.
Core engineering branches also saw placements during Phase 1. Departments such as Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering placed students in roles across manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and technology-related sectors. The institute noted that recruitment activity remained strong across both core engineering and software-focused roles.

Phase 2 of the IIT Hyderabad BTech 2026 placement season began on January 5, 2026. According to the institute, this phase aims to place the remaining interested students. Some candidates have chosen to opt out of the placement process to pursue higher education and research opportunities.
Along with placements, the BTech 2027 internship season is currently underway. The institute reported that 279 internship offers have been made so far, including 15 international internships. Monthly internship stipends have reached up to ₹7.5 lakh, indicating strong early hiring trends for the upcoming placement cycle.
