IISc Bangalore Cutoffs 2026 Out

Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has officially released the admission cutoffs for 2026-27 academic session across all postgraduate and research programmes. The cutoffs have been announced for M.Tech, M.Sc, PhD, M.Des, and M.Mgt programs based on entrance examination scores. Candidates who have cleared the cutoffs and have not received call letters should contact the admissions office by April 30, 2026. The cutoffs vary significantly based on the entrance examination used (GATE, CAT, CEED, JAM, JEST) and candidate category. Detailed cutoff information is available on the official admissions portal iisc.ac.in.

The cutoff process follows a merit-based approach with different thresholds for General (UR), OBC (NCL), EWS, SC, ST, and PwD categories. GATE scores are converted to a scale of 1000 for cutoff determination. JAM and JEST use rank-based cutoffs. CAT uses percentile-based cutoffs. CEED uses score-based cutoffs. Candidates must ensure they possess valid entrance examination scores eligible for their chosen programme. The admission process includes multiple stages including shortlisting, interviews, and final selection based on composite scores.

Important Information for Candidates

IISc Bangalore candidates who have cleared the cutoffs but have not received call letters should contact the admissions office immediately. Email submissions must include application form and entrance examination scorecard. The deadline for submitting requests is April 30, 2026 at 5:00 PM IST. Requests without required documents will not be examined. No representations will be entertained after the specified deadline.

Different entrance examinations are used for different programmes. GATE scores are converted to 1000-point scale. CAT uses percentile-based cutoffs. CEED uses score-based cutoffs. JAM and JEST use rank-based cutoffs. Candidates must ensure they possess valid entrance examination scores eligible for their chosen programme. The cutoffs vary significantly across categories to ensure inclusive admissions.

Cutoff Variation by Category

The cutoffs demonstrate significant variation across categories to promote diversity and inclusion. General (UR) category typically has the highest cutoffs. OBC (NCL) category cutoffs are generally 50-100 points lower than UR. EWS category cutoffs are comparable to OBC in most programmes. SC and ST categories have substantially lower cutoffs to encourage participation. PwD category cutoffs vary by programme but generally follow category-specific patterns.

Next Steps for Shortlisted Candidates

Candidates who have cleared cutoffs will receive call letters for interviews or written tests as applicable. Interview dates and formats will be communicated through the admission portal. Candidates must report on scheduled dates with required documents. Document verification is mandatory before final admission. Final selection will be based on composite scores including entrance exam performance, interview, and other evaluation criteria.
