CIT MBA FAQs
Ques. What are the core subjects covered in the MBA Finance programme at ChinTech Kannur?
Ans. The MBA Finance programme at ChinTech follows the Kannur University syllabus. The core finance subjects typically covered include Financial Management, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Banking and Financial Services, International Finance, Financial Derivatives, Corporate Taxation, and Project Finance. In addition to these specialisation papers, students also study common MBA subjects such as Organisational Behaviour, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Operations Management, and Business Research Methods across the four semesters. The final semester includes a project/internship component where students work with a company or financial institution and submit a research-based dissertation.
Ques. Is the MBA Finance from ChinTech Kannur (Kannur University) recognised for government banking jobs like IBPS or RBI?
Ans. The MBA Finance from ChinTech is a postgraduate degree from Kannur University, which is a UGC-recognised statutory university. This degree is valid for applying to government banking jobs such as IBPS PO, IBPS SO (Finance), RBI Grade B, and other public sector financial roles. However, for most government banking exams, the MBA degree itself is not a mandatory qualification; rather, a graduation degree is sufficient. The MBA Finance degree does give you an advantage in specialist officer roles (Finance/Accounts) in public sector banks. Candidates must separately clear the respective competitive exams (IBPS, RBI, etc.) to secure these positions.
Ques. Does ChinTech Kannur have any tie-ups with banks or financial institutions for internships or placements in the Finance specialisation?
Ans. ChinTech's placement cell has facilitated placements with companies including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Fragomen, and other financial services firms. The institute organises campus recruitment drives and has pacts with several companies for internship programmes. For the Finance specialisation, students typically pursue internships with banks, NBFCs, stock broking firms, or accounting firms during Semester IV. While ChinTech does not have exclusive MoUs specifically for Finance students, the placement cell actively connects students with relevant industry partners. Students are also encouraged to pursue certifications such as NISM, NCFM, or CFA Level 1 alongside their MBA to strengthen their finance profile.
Ques. What is the difference between MBA Finance at ChinTech and an MBA Finance from a distance or online university? Is the on-campus experience worth it?
Ans. The MBA Finance at ChinTech is a full-time, on-campus programme affiliated to Kannur University and approved by AICTE. This is fundamentally different from distance or online MBA programmes in terms of learning experience, industry exposure, and employer perception. The on-campus programme includes regular classroom sessions, case study discussions, guest lectures, industrial visits, a compulsory internship, and participation in management fests. Employers, especially in the banking and financial services sector, generally prefer candidates with full-time MBA degrees from AICTE-approved institutions. The Kannur University affiliation also ensures that the degree is recognised for government jobs and higher education purposes, which may not always be the case with online or distance programmes.
Ques. I am a B.Com graduate with 55% marks. Am I eligible for MBA Finance at ChinTech Kannur?
Ans. Yes, you are eligible. The eligibility criteria for MBA Finance at ChinTech requires a Bachelor's Degree in any stream from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Since you have a B.Com degree with 55%, you meet the eligibility requirement. A B.Com background is actually well-suited for the Finance specialisation, as your undergraduate studies in accounting, taxation, and commerce will give you a strong foundation for the MBA Finance curriculum. You will also need a valid score in KMAT Kerala, CAT, or CMAT to apply. SC/ST and OBC candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement.
Ques. How does the fee payment work at ChinTech? Can I pay the MBA fees in instalments?
Ans. The MBA fees at ChinTech are paid on a semester-wise basis, which effectively means you pay Rs. 87,000 in Semester 1 (Rs. 70,000 tuition + Rs. 17,000 one-time charges) and Rs. 70,000 each in Semesters 2, 3, and 4. This semester-wise payment structure itself acts as an instalment plan, spreading the total cost of Rs. 2,97,000 over 2 years across 4 payments. There is no formal EMI or loan arrangement offered directly by the institute. However, students can avail education loans from banks (under the PM Vidya Lakshmi scheme or regular education loan schemes) to fund their MBA fees. The institute also provides information about AICTE scholarship and education loan schemes on its website. Fee payment is accepted via bank transfer or UPI/Google Pay.
