WCTM B.Tech CSD FAQs
Ques. What makes B.Tech Computer Science and Design different from regular B.Tech Computer Science Engineering at WCTM?
Ans. B.Tech CSD is a hybrid program that combines core computer science subjects (programming, algorithms, data structures, software engineering) with design-oriented subjects like UI/UX design, human-computer interaction, digital media, animation, and game development. Regular B.Tech CSE focuses purely on computer science and engineering fundamentals. CSD is ideal for students who want to work at the intersection of technology and creativity - for example, as a UX designer at a tech company, a game developer, or an AR/VR developer. The fee for both is the same at Rs. 52,500 per semester.
Ques. What career options are available after B.Tech Computer Science and Design from WCTM?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers in multiple domains: software application development, web development, UI/UX design, game development, animation, virtual/augmented reality development, data science, and AI. Companies like TCS, Wipro, Accenture, HCL, IBM, Cognizant, and Infosys recruit CSD graduates for software roles, while gaming and media companies hire them for design and development roles. WCTM's placement record shows an average package of 8 LPA and a highest package of 52 LPA (2024 batch). Students can also pursue higher studies in CS, Design, or MBA.
Ques. Does WCTM have specific labs or infrastructure for Computer Science and Design students?
Ans. Yes, WCTM has several state-of-the-art facilities directly relevant to CSD students. These include the Apple iOS Centre of Excellence (first in Gurgaon) for mobile app development, the NVIDIA Dell AI Data Science and GPU Computing Lab for AI/ML projects, the Intel Unnati AI Centre of Excellence, HP Intel i7 13th generation computer labs, and the Innovation Lab for Full Stack development. These labs provide hands-on experience with industry-grade tools and technologies that are directly applicable to CSD career paths.
Ques. Is JEE Main mandatory for admission to B.Tech CSD at WCTM? What if I haven't appeared for JEE Main?
Ans. JEE Main is required for admission through the HSTES (Haryana State Technical Education Society) counselling route, which is the government-regulated admission process. However, WCTM also offers direct/management quota admissions where JEE Main is not mandatory - you only need 45% in Class 12 with PCM. If you have a JEE Main rank within 1 lakh, you also get a 50% scholarship on fees. It is recommended to appear for JEE Main as it opens both the government counselling route and scholarship opportunities.
Ques. What is the total fee for B.Tech Computer Science and Design at WCTM, and how does it compare to other CSE specializations?
Ans. The total tuition fee for B.Tech CSD at WCTM is Rs. 4,20,000 for the full 4-year program (Rs. 52,500 per semester x 8 semesters). This is the same fee as all other CSE department specializations at WCTM (CSE, AI & DS, AI & ML, Robotics & AI). The fee is competitive compared to other private engineering colleges in the Delhi-NCR region. With scholarships (up to 50% for JEE Main rank holders), the effective fee can be significantly reduced.
Ques. After B.Tech CSD from WCTM, can I pursue M.Tech or higher studies? Will the degree be recognized for GATE?
Ans. Yes, the B.Tech CSD degree from WCTM is a full-fledged B.Tech degree affiliated to MDU Rohtak (NAAC A+ Grade) and AICTE approved. You are fully eligible to appear for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) in the Computer Science and Information Technology paper and apply for M.Tech at NITs, IITs, and other universities. WCTM itself offers M.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (2 years, Rs. 32,500 per semester). The degree is also recognized for government jobs, PSU recruitment, and all other purposes where a B.Tech degree is required.
