UNC Pembroke Bachelor of Science Psychology is a four-year, full-time, on-campus degree in Pembroke, North Carolina, requiring 120 credits and 40 Psychology credits. For Spring 2027, new international students pay a 2026-27 tuition cap of US$3,500 per semester (INR 3.38 Lakhs). Eight semesters calculate to US$28,000 (INR 27.03 Lakhs) before recurring fees and insurance. The target-cycle GPA minimum is unpublished, although eligibility uses official school records and English proof may be requested. Prior-cycle GPA 2.5/4.0 maps approximately to 55% to 60% or CGPA 5.5 to 6.0 on 10; reference: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.

The science-oriented curriculum combines human behaviour with research methods, data analysis and faculty-mentored projects, giving the degree a clear research spine. It suits applicants comfortable with statistics and evidence-based study who may later pursue graduate training, because a bachelor’s degree alone does not qualify someone to practise as a psychologist.

  • Faculty research projects can turn classroom methods into portfolio evidence for graduate applications.
  • The 40-credit Psychology major sits inside a broader 120-credit degree, leaving room for complementary courses and a second academic interest.
  • The North Carolina Promise Tuition Plan applies its out-of-state undergraduate rate to international students and sets the new-student rate from Fall 2026.

Current Admission Status

Applications for the Spring 2027 intake are Open. International student deadline: 01 October 2026 (Expected).

The date follows the university’s current recurring international schedule and is marked Expected because the live page does not name 2027. Supporting documents are due by 15 October 2026, with no clock time published.

UNC Pembroke Psychology Fees and Living Costs 2027

For Spring 2027, the table uses the live 2026-27 new international out-of-state schedule. Tuition is capped at 12 undergraduate credits, while academic fees and international charges sit beside it, so the subtotal shows the recurring bill before insurance.

Target-cycle fee context: The new-student rate applies to international undergraduates from Fall 2026, and the Psychology degree is an on-campus programme.

All INR conversions in the article use a conversion rate of USD 1 = INR 96.5372 as of 16 August 2026. Rates fluctuate daily, verify before applying.

  • The calculated recurring semester subtotal is US$5,017.50 (INR 4.84 Lakhs) before the listed health insurance, so compare funding plans using the full bill rather than tuition alone.
  • The four-year tuition illustration is US$28,000 (INR 27.03 Lakhs) across eight semesters, but it is not a university-published fixed programme quote.
  • Students taking six or more on-campus credits are assessed the listed insurance rate, so the first-semester payment can exceed the recurring subtotal.

Cost of Living in Pembroke for Psychology Students

Living-cost context: The university’s 2026-27 on-campus budget for an undergraduate without dependents supplies the annual figures below. Monthly values are calculated by dividing each published annual amount by 12, so they are planning equivalents rather than new university rates.

ExpenseMonthly (USD)Monthly (INR)Annual (USD)Annual (INR)
Housing, on campusUS$507.83INR 49,025US$6,094INR 5.88 Lakhs

Living and study subtotal, calculatedUS$1,498.80INR 1.45 LakhsUS$17,985.56INR 17.36 Lakhs

Using the 2026-27 schedule, two semesters of tuition, base fees and the international fee total US$10,035.00 (INR 9.69 Lakhs). Annual health insurance is US$2,624 (INR 2.53 Lakhs). The official living and study estimate is US$17,985.56 (INR 17.36 Lakhs). Together, they produce a calculated first-year budget of US$30,644.56 (INR 29.58 Lakhs) before visa, travel and application costs.

Student perspective

One dated university-level review from May 2019 identifies a Psychology student. The entry describes an insurance charge that may be waived with family coverage and first-semester required lectures. Use this student review only as an anecdotal prompt to confirm current charges.

These comments are anecdotal and do not replace official UNC Pembroke data.

Key insight: The low tuition cap does not equal the full first-year bill. Insurance, fees and living costs lift the calculated budget to US$30,644.56 (INR 29.58 Lakhs). Secure funding against that wider figure.

UNC Pembroke Psychology Admission 2027

UNC Pembroke’s current international page requires a completed application, translated official school transcript and possible English or admission test scores. The current page does not publish a Spring 2027 GPA threshold, so the latest freshman benchmark below is labelled prior-cycle context.

The major itself does not add a Psychology-specific entry test, and its science orientation makes mathematics, laboratory science and analytical reading useful preparation. Applicants transferring from an Indian college face a different credit and transcript review route.

Academic eligibility context: These requirements come from the live undergraduate and international admissions pages, with the dated GPA item retained only as prior-cycle planning evidence.

RequirementOfficial positionAction for Indian applicants
School completionHigh-school diploma or equivalent, with an official transcript and English translationPrepare the Class XII marksheet and completion certificate in the required translated format.

Prior-cycle academic benchmarkWeighted GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, approximately 55% to 60% or CGPA 5.5 to 6.0 on 10, published for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026Use this only as a planning reference and verify the Spring 2027 portal requirement.
International transfer routeAt least 24 transferable college credits and a 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, approximately 50% to 55% or CGPA 5.0 to 5.5 on 10Send every post-secondary transcript and arrange the required course-by-course evaluation.
Application evidenceOnline application, non-refundable application fee, translated school records and English or admission test scores when requestedKeep passport identification and financial-support records ready for the international file.

The current undergraduate page does not state a separate Psychology admission standard beyond university entry requirements. It also does not publish a target-cycle Indian percentage conversion, so the ranges above are approximate planning equivalents rather than official equivalency decisions.

English Language Proficiency

The current undergraduate international page says English scores may be required but does not publish a direct target-cycle cutoff. TOEFL means Test of English as a Foreign Language, while IELTS means International English Language Testing System.

The current English Language Institute page lists pathway figures of 71 TOEFL iBT, 6.0 IELTS or 105 Duolingo, not confirmed direct-admission minima. These figures matter because an English pathway can add a preparatory stage before Psychology coursework begins.

English-score context: The table separates the pathway figures from the direct undergraduate policy, which the checked target-cycle page leaves unpublished.

Test or routePublished informationApplicant decision
TOEFL iBT71 on the 0 to 120 scale for the ELI pathwayConfirm whether the direct Psychology application accepts this score or requires a different minimum.
IELTS6.0 for the ELI pathwayUse the six-band scale if it suits your preparation, then verify direct-admission treatment.
Duolingo English Test105 for the ELI pathwayConfirm current acceptance and whether the score is direct or pathway-only.
SAT or ACTMay be requested for an international undergraduate application; no target score is published on the current pageSubmit scores only when the portal or admissions team requests them.
  • Book an accepted English test early because the direct Spring 2027 score policy is not printed and the ELI route can add a preparatory stage.
  • Use IELTS if you prefer a six-band scale, but confirm whether 6.0 is a direct target or an ELI pathway threshold before submitting.
  • Ask admissions whether Indian English-medium study can support a waiver because the current undergraduate page does not state a country-specific waiver.
Tip for Indian students: The direct English and target-year GPA rules remain open on the current international page. Submit complete Class XII records, prepare an accepted test and confirm the portal checklist.

UNC Pembroke Psychology Application 2027

The application route is online through the university or Common Application, and international files are reviewed after the application and required documents are complete. Spring 2027 is the target intake because its recurring international deadline arrives before the Fall 2027 round.

The current international page says decisions are typically communicated within two weeks after a complete file arrives. Because the live schedule does not name 2027, the dates below are Expected planning markers rather than confirmed target-cycle deadlines.

Forward-looking deadline context: The international schedule lists submission and supporting-document dates for both offered undergraduate intakes, but it does not publish a clock time or timezone.

IntakeApplication submission deadlineSupporting documents deadlineDecision timing

How to Apply from India

Start with the application platform, then build the file around translated academic records, requested test scores and proof that the study plan can be funded. The university’s rolling process makes document completeness important because the stated decision window begins only after the file is complete.

First-time applicants should prepare Class XII records, while transfer applicants need post-secondary transcripts. Transfer applicants also need a course-by-course evaluation from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) accredited provider. This distinction matters because missing transfer evaluation can delay review after form submission.

  • Select the university application or Common Application route and keep the confirmation details for the international checklist.
  • Upload translated school records and any English, SAT or ACT score requested by the portal.
  • Arrange the required course-by-course evaluation before filing as a transfer applicant with Indian college credits.
  • Use 01 October 2026 and 15 October 2026 as Spring planning markers, then verify the live portal dates before submission.

Application tip: The university reviews complete files on a rolling basis. An Indian applicant should finish translated records and any requested evaluation before the expected supporting-document date rather than treating form submission as the final step.

UNC Pembroke Psychology Scholarships 2027

UNC Pembroke does not publish a target-cycle Psychology award with confirmed F-1 eligibility, value and deadline. The F-1 category is the academic student visa for international students, and current guidance says F-1 students do not qualify for United States federal financial aid.

Institutional, external and private funding therefore need separate confirmation before an Indian applicant treats them as part of the budget. The current scholarship page identifies BraveASSIST auto-matching after admission and a March 1 priority date. It does not establish that either item is a Spring 2027 award for F-1 students.

Funding-route context: The named awards below are current institutional routes, not confirmed target-cycle offers for this applicant profile. Verify the visa and intake conditions on the current scholarship eligibility page.

Award or routePublished eligibility or valueIndian applicant action
BraveASSISTAdmitted students can be auto-matched to institutional scholarships; award value and F-1 eligibility are not specified on the current pageAsk whether an admitted international Psychology student is included and request the award amount in writing.
Merit ScholarshipsDescribed for top-ranking high-school seniors; target-cycle value and F-1 eligibility are not specifiedSubmit the admission file early enough for the university to assess whether this route accepts international applicants.
Esther G. Maynor ScholarshipFor eligible Maynor Honors College students with financial need, covering unmet tuition, fees, room and boardConfirm Honors College admission, visa eligibility and whether the stated coverage applies to this intake.
Braves ScholarsSupports future educators who commit to partner school districts; value and F-1 eligibility are not specifiedUse this route only if the required education commitment matches the intended Psychology pathway.
  • File the admission application before the current March 1 priority date when seeking an institutional auto-match, then confirm the date for the target intake.
  • Keep a separate funding plan because the current international page excludes F-1 students from United States federal aid.
  • Ask each award office whether international students can receive the award and whether the amount is renewable across eight semesters.

For an Indian applicant, the absence of a confirmed target-cycle award makes the calculated first-year budget of US$30,644.56 (INR 29.58 Lakhs) the safer funding baseline. Borrowing decisions should use confirmed grants only after the university states the award value, renewal rule and F-1 treatment.

Scholarship reality: The university lists institutional routes but does not confirm a target-cycle F-1 Psychology award. Treat scholarships as upside and fund the calculated first year without an assumed award.

UNC Pembroke Psychology Salary 2027

UNC Pembroke does not publish Bachelor of Science in Psychology course-cohort salary, offer-rate or placement results. The closest usable evidence is a United States field-of-degree benchmark, which must not be read as a UNC Pembroke graduate outcome.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a 2023 median annual wage of US$60,000 (INR 57.92 Lakhs) for workers with a psychology degree. Median means the midpoint of reported wages, so it is a market reference rather than a starting-salary promise.

External United States psychology degree-field benchmark2023 median annual wage for workers with a psychology degreeUS$60,000INR 57.92 Lakhs

Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics psychology field-of-degree data.

The same field-of-degree source reports 62% employed in occupations requiring at least a bachelor’s degree and 51% with an advanced degree. Those figures describe psychology degree holders across the United States, not UNC Pembroke graduates, so they support career planning rather than a placement claim.

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary work authorization for eligible F-1 graduates. The standard period is up to 12 months, while a Psychology STEM extension is not confirmed for this exact programme.

  • The calculated first-year cost is US$30,644.56 (INR 29.58 Lakhs), so model funding against the full cost rather than a guaranteed payback.
  • The 51% advanced-degree share signals that graduate study is common in the field benchmark, so reserve funding for a later degree if the intended role requires it.
  • The standard OPT window is up to 12 months, so verify the programme’s classification before counting on a longer work period.
  • The United States benchmark does not establish an India-return salary, so compare borrowing with a confirmed India career route before accepting a large loan.

The US$60,000 (INR 57.92 Lakhs) benchmark is gross annual pay. Taxes, location and role change take-home income, so use a current United States tax calculator before modelling repayments.

Read More: United States post-study work options

ROI reality: The degree has a calculated first-year cost and an external field benchmark but no course outcome report. Treat graduate study, funding certainty and the 12-month standard OPT window as the main financial risks.

United States Visa for UNC Pembroke Psychology Students 2027

Degree-seeking Psychology students normally use the F-1 academic student visa. The government application fee is US$185 (INR 17,859). The I-901 SEVIS fee is US$350 (INR 33,788), and the university issues Form I-20 after admission and financial proof.

SEVIS means Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, which records the student visa process. The official student visa instructions also explain F-2 documentation for eligible family members.

H-1B means the employer-sponsored specialty-occupation work status used after student work authorization. Its required wage is the higher of the actual wage or prevailing wage, so there is no single Psychology-specific salary threshold.

  • Maintain the full-time enrollment shown on the Form I-20 and follow the university’s international-student reporting process throughout the degree.
  • Use the standard OPT window of up to 12 months as the confirmed baseline, because a STEM extension is not confirmed for this exact Psychology programme.
  • F-2 status can cover a spouse and unmarried minor children with separate I-20 documents, so include their financial support in the visa file.
  • Permanent residence has no fixed Psychology-linked timeline, so treat post-study work as temporary and keep an India-return route financially viable.

Check Out: United States student visa requirements

Visa reality: The confirmed student-visa costs total US$535 (INR 51,647) before university charges. The standard work window is 12 months, so keep visa fees and temporary work risk in the funding plan.

UNC Pembroke Psychology Ranking 2027

UNC Pembroke’s current rankings page reports U.S. News & World Report recognition for Psychology among its top undergraduate programs, but it does not publish a numeric Psychology position. A 2025 university news item repeats the recognition without a course rank, so this is prior context rather than a target-cycle ranking.

Overall university positions shown on the current page are not Psychology programme positions, which limits direct comparison for an Indian applicant. The missing numeric position means the ranking signal should support awareness, not replace curriculum, cost or research-fit evidence.

  • Use the published 40-credit Psychology curriculum and faculty research opportunities as stronger fit evidence than an unquantified ranking label.
  • Do not compare this recognition with a numeric Psychology ranking from another university because the published scope and position are missing.
Honest take: The university reports U.S. News Psychology recognition but no numeric course position, so treat curriculum, research access and the full first-year budget as the decision evidence.

UNC Pembroke’s Bachelor of Science in Psychology fits an Indian applicant seeking a four-year, full-time campus degree with a science-oriented curriculum and faculty research. The low published tuition cap is attractive, but current target-cycle English and GPA rules are not fully stated. The programme does not itself confer psychologist licensure or guarantee a United States job, so confirm the direct English requirement as Spring 2027 planning begins. Build a budget around US$30,644.56 (INR 29.58 Lakhs) for the calculated first year. Use 01 October 2026 and 15 October 2026 as expected planning markers, then verify the portal before filing.

UNCP is a school that is close to home which is great because I didn't want to be far. As as far as costs go it is an affordable college to go to especially with the $500 tuition they have. Also, I am the fourth generation in my family to go to UNCP. It started with my great grandmother, then my grandma, my father, and now me. I am happy to continue that tradition at UNCP.
