1. Align with Application Rounds
- Round 1 (September-October): Schedule your GMAT by April.
- Round 2 (December-January): Aim for a July exam date.
- Round 3 (March-April): Target an October test date.
2. Assess Your Preparation Level
- Take GMAT mock tests to gauge your readiness. If you're scoring high, you might opt for an earlier date. If not, give yourself extra time to prepare.
3. Consider Test Center Availability
- Popular centers in major cities like Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai often fill up months in advance. If your preferred center is not available, consider alternatives in nearby cities or less crowded locations.
4. Flexibility and Backup Plans
- Book multiple dates if possible, allowing you flexibility in case you need to retake the exam.

Timing is everything, especially when it comes to the GMAT. Aligning your exam date with your MBA application deadlines ensures that your scores are fresh and competitive. Plus, booking early secures your spot, sparing you the stress of last-minute hassles. Here’s why you should plan ahead:
- MBA Abroad Deadlines: Different programs have different deadlines. Your GMAT score should ideally be available at least a month before you apply.
- Preparation Time: Allocate enough time to study, take mock tests, and improve your GMAT scores.
- Peak Seasons: Test centers tend to get crowded during peak months, particularly from September to November (due to Round 1 MBA application deadlines) and January to March (leading up to Round 2 deadlines).
