- Course selection, supportive teaching staff and international services.
Dislikes
- Lack of international hiring companies in career fair
- Apartments.com, Zillow and student whatsapp groups help in finding accommodation. 650-750$ per month- including heat, water, waste disposal. Some even have maid service per week/month, sauna and gym.

- For the first year, I got the on-campus dorms; mine was the Ogg residence hall (pictures attached below). It had good rooms, kitchens, study lounges, and laundry facilities.
- It was right in front of the bus stop, gym, and dining hall.
- Other dorms were also nearby and some a little far.
- For years 2, 3, and 4, I am living in different apartments, which I found online and went through the application process for.
- The housing market is expensive here and rents are soaring. People are opting for luxury residences.
- Off-campus accommodations are within walking distance of classes.
- For future students, I would say find a few people and live in shared rooms to save money and start research early.

- The flexibility of choosing classes. Of course some requirements were imposed, such as certain number of humanities and social science courses for a computer science degree, but apart from these there was a lot of leeway.
- The nightlife. Ease of access to booze, clubs and having a good with friends and others.
- The weather. Less pollution, less heat, less people, less crowding. Also snow in winters.
Dislikes
- The food. Even the best of the best restaurants cannot compare with mammi ka khana.
- The extra requirements. You would be forced to take a certain number of humanities, social sciences, ethnic studies courses no matter what you choose to study.
- The fact that the degree is 4 years and 3 years. Extra year of not earning, spending in college (could be a plus, but was a negative for me).
- In 2019, I did not know about online portals, so university accommodation were my only bet. My advice is to find friends and live with them or look into Facebook groups. Finding a roommate is a practical necessity due to cost and honestly you might even like it.
- Monthly rent even with roommate was around $1K. This is on the lower end in america and you should expect to pay more.
- Accommodations are well connected to the university via buses.

- Community- Personally, I would have liked more outreach support
- Segregation fees- In spite of having a stipend, we had to pay segregation fees which can be financially demanding
I chose this university because of following factors- 1. Funding in the form of a TA position 2. Opportunity to delve into an exciting field of research (AI in smart manufacturing) 3. One of the top 150 universities in the world. Overall, it is challenging at times, it was an invigorating and rewarding experience and equipped me with a diverse set of skills from AI to biomechanics.

I chose this university because of following factors: • Courses - flexibility in selection & wide range of courses • Affordable tuition fees • Good ranking for Industrial Engineering Overall, it was a new and unique experience, could explore diversity in terms of people, infrastructure, events, food. Had to take academics seriously. Good faculty support. Different approaches by different professors for teaching.
3 LORS AND SoP were required. Skillsets directly related to field of study and reason for (if applicable) shift in field of study No I didn’t have any round of interviews. The best college out of current choices with a great program for my area The perfect college experience except for the weather which is very violent. We experience temperatures as low as -20. The crowd is good as the town is a university town and so we’re always surrounded by the people of same age group. Uni definitely has a party town reputation but it’s the best of both worlds. Connecting with people is slightly hard due to very undiluted crowds and still some racism

- The extracurricular activities and sports with the balance of academics is the thing i most like about my college, it is a place where we can have fun and study both at the same time.
Dislikes
- I hate the location as there is nothing to do apart from the campus life as Madison is a very small city. The winters in Madison are brutal and being from a city where it never snows it is tough to manage.
The university has amazing CS program and also have a balanced student life hence I chose this university. I would like to say my 1st semester was a mix and match of mixing in academics and also living alone which was nice.

- Great set of coursework for computer engineering. Professors in the past have done pioneering research work. Tuition and cost of living is very affordable plus Madison is a very safe city.
- Madison is a very safe city with good public transport and the cost of living is less compared to other major cities. Tuition is also very affordable. Great coursework with strong emphasis on research and is one of the best universities for systems (OS, distributed, data systems, etc) engineering. Plenty of opportunities for TA/RA/part time.
Dislikes
- Weather is not very friendly but is manageable with the right set of clothes. All graduate level courses require you to read research papers on a regular basis and the projects will also be research centered. It will be difficult at first but you’ll soon get used to it.
My experience has been very positive, got to learn so much from professors and peers and also have fun with other graduate students.

The university is very highly ranked and has over 99% placement, Also it has always been my dream to study in the US and I worked really for it. I think I made the right decision about the University. Also they have a very supporting staff, very helpful when in times of need
