My honest review on SJSU

During my bachelor's in India, I developed a passion for electronics. This is the main reason behind choosing Electrical Engineering in my master's. I chose this university considering its location and the extraordinary faculty. I will be graduating in May 2026. Looking forward to a better opportunity in the industry. My experience with the university is good so far. There were no particular requirements posted in terms of the minimum score for GRE. But the minimum score required for IELTS is 6.5 similar to that of many universities. With regard to my scores, I scored 320 in GRE and 7.5 in IELTS. I chose San Jose State University, as it is located in California, where the weather is not so wild during both winters and summers. The University also has a good ranking in the state when compared with all the California State Universities (CSUs). And SJSU has a strong curriculum for the Electrical Engineering graduates and as it is located in Silicon Valley, it is an added benefit of getting graduated from this university....Read More

San Jose State, mainly because of the location and also because of the tuition fees. I applied for the following universities: San Jose State University: Admitted East Bay University: Admitted Santa Clara University: Admitted I received admission from the above 3 colleges. No, I didn't receive rejection from anyone. I chose the above 3 colleges because I was preferring universities within Bay Area. I had 5+ years of experience in India when I applied for these universities, so I think I was accepted for all of these 3 colleges. I chose SJSU because this is a state university. It has fewer fees compared to the other colleges to which I applied. Secondly, it was close to my location, so I didn't have to travel much. The admission process involved giving the GRE exam (although it was optional the year I was admitted; the minimum score is 80) and TOEFL/IELETS score (this was compulsory; the minimum score is 90). I submitted my application (containing GRE score, TOFEL score, WES evaluated undergrad transcript, SOP, and LOR, and experience letters) in December 2021 and got admit in the month of March. And classes started in June. The overall admission experience was smooth; it required a lot of patience. I applied for the Fall 2022 intake. My decision was dependent on the lesser fees being State College and the location for better job opportunities. I applied in the month of December 2021 and submitted my scores, resume, transcripts, SOPs ,LORs. University of Illinois Urbana champagne - Rejected - too ambitious for me. I just applied there hoping maybe I would get in but I knew it was too ambitious for my score. The fee of SJSU is less than other universities I got accepted to. I heard at the end, university doesn’t matter.  SJSU requires WES evaluation which is a tedious process so need to start the application process early.  Accepted exams depend on the course selection. Mine only required IELTS. No challenges as such while applying. Though the results are rolled out very late and the decision depend on the type of applications received for the particular intake. I applied for Fall 2024 intake. The admission process took a while. I applied during November and received result in last week of march/first week of April. They don’t communicate through email, need to continuously check the website for admission status which was irritating. They give out results quite late which could be a problem as other universities give them earlier and also have a deadline to pay the deposit to confirm the seat. This is the problem. I have applied in 4 to 5 universities for my masters in engineering management after completion of my bachelor's in Chemical Engineering Here is the list UAB, university of Alabama at Birmingham CSU East bay San jose state university University of new haven Michigan technological universities Missouri science and technological university I only got rejected in Michigan technological University, and i think that is because i didn't have the same background for my master; that might be a reason One of the best things was its ranking. Another things is public university Third, its price and last, i liked the subjects that I'm going to study here Once I decided to go to this university, I started finding out the criteria, and I got to know that I needed WES evaluation, so once I completed that and got a score, and then they selected me, but from my perspective, you can start the application in the beginning, and then once you have WES evaluation, you can submit it. I was in the 6th semester when I wanted to join SJSU and I completed my exam for that same and before the 7th semester, I started my application for Fall 24 in November, and the process went so long till March, and then in April I got the offer letter from the university. But here we required the wes evaluation, so the competition for getting the admissions is less competitive and we can apply here till May or June as far as knowledge....Read More

SJSU is pretty good. They offer some well structured curicullum and the faculties here are well experienced. Learning wise this college is exceptional, but for jobs we need to apply outside as there is no placements and companies coming to college. Most of the universities here does not provide campus placements like India. Each student should approach to the company employers and apply....Read More
