Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • I chose SJSU because of its unique location in the heart of silicon valley, this is the place where innovation and opportunities are everywhere. As a Biomed Engg major, I wanted to be in the major business and healthcare hub. I gave preference to the college location over the college ranking.
  • Also, SJSU is one of the top-ranked colleges on the west coast, and the pro for choosing SJSU is the tuition is pretty cheap when compared to other universities in the USA.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

  • My Board scores were pretty low and these schools consider Class rank and GPA over SAT scores. The other reasons were I couldn't take the advantage of Early decision deadline and lost the edge of getting in.

Required Exams for Admission

SAT (1420)
Duolingo (130)

Required Documents For Admission

Tips to enhance your application

  • Adding internship experiences and Volunteering work boosts the chance of getting in. Even though the SAT is optional for reporting, if reported, then the chances of getting in would be high. Also, providing a good SOP is a key thing to focus on.

Admission Experience

  • The US felt like the right place to explore advanced learning and real-world opportunities. It is the #4 Top public school (regional west).
  • Various Science, Engineering and Business courses are available. It has a very good proximity to the silicon valley. SJSU has a lot of student clubs and organisations.

Class Schedule

8

  • It depends upon how many units the student enrols in; an international student is supposed to enrol in a minimum of 12 units for a semester to have a full-time student status and on average, each class has 3 units, every course is taught 2 days a week and class time ranges from 1 hr to 1.5hr and a few courses have an additional Lab or seminar class to attend.
  • The avg, strength of a lower division class is 35 and a higher division class is 25.

Faculty

8

  • The student and faculty approachability is really good and they do help in giving out LORs and recommendations for the students, which will help the students, and there are a lot of faculty for each course, which gives the student a choice and option to select whoever he or she wants. they do help in getting part-time and full-time jobs.

Campus Life

8

  • We only have one campus. We have a lot of in-house facilities like library, sports, a student wellness centre and there are a lot of fest which will go around on campus and there are a lot of event and there is an Indian Student organization where we celebrate festivals like Holi, diwali, Garba and more.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are a lot of jobs on campus; there are desk jobs, jobs at eateries and TA/RA positions and it is not that hard to secure an on-campus job. The student needs to have a good résumé with suitable keywords at the time of applying so that the résumé gets picked for the interview.
  • The average and minimum wage on campus is $17.95/hr.
  • There are a lot of opportunities on campus and various jobs for students. Typically, the wait for an incoming student would be 1 semester at least because the hiring for that semester would be completed before the student comes to the campus.
  • Students can apply to TA/RA roles by emailing the professor and a student is allowed to work 20 hrs/week in between the semester and 40 hours/week in the breaks.

Placement

8

  • The Stats differ every year depending on the job market and skills the student has at the time of graduation; at this point in time, most of the jobs are being converted from the internship offers the student gets; again, there is no exact number for the salary either; it depends on which role the student got into. Students apply for jobs online using platforms like Handshake and indeed.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I just live in front of the campus and there are various websites and portals where students get to see open apartment spaces and SJSU also helps students find Off Campus Housing and make the process easy for the students. 101 San Fernando, Colonade, The Grad and 360 Residencies Apartments are the closest ones to the campus and a large Indian Student community stays there.
