Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • Columbia University was a no-brainer. Sure, Boston University has its charm; NYU is great and Northeastern loves its co-ops, but Columbia offered the perfect blend of prestige, opportunity, amazing professors and location.
  • The Ms. in Tech Management program at Columbia just aligned with what I was looking for; integrating tech into business, healthcare, and media has always fascinated me and to explore this interest, this masters has been perfect.

Required Exams for Admission

Required Documents For Admission

LOR

SOP

CV

Tips to enhance your application

  • Just the required document should be enough; what really matters is the story you write in your SOP.
  • A resume gives you a professional background, but the SOP is where you can really shine and write a story about your life.

Admission Experience

  • New York is absolutely the best city; the transport is easy because of the subway; you have to keep your guard up but it's pretty safe. I always wanted to live in NY.
  • Attending Columbia is like a dream come true; it holds up to its ivy rank, great campus, inspiring professors, amazing events, and you get to learn a lot here.
  • The MS in Tech Management course really offers you a wide range of learning experiences; you can pick top electives related to design, tech, and marketing and learn about the innovative sides of this field.
  • Overall, for all career opportunities, you can go for BA or DS roles after this masters or PM if you have experience, but in the US there is no placement system so you really have to do the word to have any opportunity.

Class Schedule

8

  • You have to take 4 class a week at least, each semester you have to take 12 credits; it's a 36-credit course.
  • The average strength of the class is 100; not many Indian's in my course, like 14 probably, so create course for international networking and assignments are not that hectic and will take you like 5 hours max to get them done.

Faculty

6

  • The faculty are great individuals, CEOs, VPs, and directors all with real-world industry experience who have made names for themselves, have startups and are just kind people who said even though their amazing professionals are not all of them good teachers, the skill of teaching and structuring a course is missing in many classes.

Campus Life

3

  • Amazing, beautiful, magnificent campus with one of the most gorgeous libraries. Located right in Manhattan, its just amazing going to campus.
  • The classes are huge, the infrastructure is beautiful land, and every building has a story. Columbia is the most filmed ivy and of course the stairs, the statutes, and the gym are just perfect.

Part Time Jobs

  • All the jobs have good pay; they mostly pay 21 an hour; its very easy to get; you can apply for SSN if you get the job; you can pick shifts and plan them according to your schedule; it can get hectic but all the jobs are simple; just go for it.
  • There are jobs that give you 20 hours fixed so you can earn 300 dollars a week for sure, which is great.
  • Well, TA gets around 15-20 dollars. Columbia has multiple schools in it: business school, seas, and SPS. The pay depends according to the school you are working at sometimes.
  • There are also common jobs like working at the library or housing disability, which pay 21 dollars an hour and its shift base makes it easy to get at least 1 campus job each semester; the maximum you can work is 20 hours without CPT with CPT 40 hours.

Placement

2

  • I am still in my 2nd semester. but the market is tough, even for internships. A lot of my friends who graduated are still struggling.
  • The Columbia name really helps in this market but at the end of the day, it's you, and how many applications you do, how will you prep for interviews, say, it can vary from 80k to 150k. Networking is very important.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • Search online platforms, Street Easy, Zillion, talk to brokers; I would say go for college housing. It sounds expensive at first but with utilities, its the same as leaving campus. Trying to find an apartment without visiting it can be very difficult. Be aware of scammers; search the realtors; try finding one near campus so you can use the campus shuttle to travel.
