What Students Say
Likes
- Good exposure, opportunities, really good research.
Dislikes
- Specialisations start in 3rd semester, better to start earlier, but one can choose to start early if one can manage
Course Curriculum
10
- Well updated curriculum, constantly changing with industrial needs, many spinoffs from KIT, so good exposure, strong research. Classes can be from 8 am to 5:45 pm max, depending on which classes.
Admission Experience
- Low tuition fees and living costs, have one of the best professors in Integrated photonics, and a really good balance between theoretical physics and industrial applications.
Faculty
8
- The faculties are very qualified, with each having its own strong research groups.
Campus Life
10
- Strong campus, good library, a lot of events- mostly German though, really good gym and sports courses
Part Time Jobs
- Part-time jobs are easily available through job portals, so it is easy for students to fund themselves.
Placement
10
- One has to find a job by oneself in Europe, unlike in India. Most in Optics go for PhDs, and some for jobs
Accommodation
Off Campus
8
- Studentenwerk (by student unions)- cheap dorms up to 350 euros/month, KIT ID housing- more expensive. Private rooms (WGs) are also available. But one should start the search early.
Exams
- I didn't need GRE, my TOEFL- 111/120, CGPA - 8.89/10
- IELTS/TOEFL, LOM, CV, LOR, transcripts.
Fees
- Around 1700 euros per semester now
