What Students Say
Dislikes
- First of all there is nothing like placements in Canadian College, but you get an option of Co-op, for which you need at least a 3.0 GPA
- People usually go for Coop and then fight for a PPO/Full time offer.
Course Curriculum
- No plagiarism is allowed; you will be punished for that, so do not copy assignments.
- Classes are pretty chill, but there are no attendance issues. Professors are chill and treat it as post-secondary education is a choice, so there's no spoon-feeding like it's done in India. There are many research Opportunities on campus, so look for student research internships. Avg, no. of students in a university is about 200+, and 80- 100 in a college
Admission Experience
- Tuition Fees, it was close to Toronto for travelling, and Co-op + Job.
Faculty
- University is high, college is low. Faculties are good, at-least 80% of them, very approachable. Stefan Kremer from the University of Guelph.
Campus Life
- Infra is awesome, campus life is good, everybody is chill. No Scene like in India, Tons of extracurricular stuff, very good research facilities and food counters, overall good!!
Part Time Jobs
- Part-time - you will have to look for that, just be active on campus. Look out for opportunities. Allowed- 20 hrs/week, and starting is $15/hr. Ease of getting a job - it depends on you entirely, but I would say 6/10.
Placement
- University - 60% graduation rate in CS. CS is genuinely tough.
- Salary Range is about 60k-100k.
- The co-op program gets you a job and sometimes referrals.
Accommodation
- On-campus is easy for 1st year, and then you can look for off-campus (not very hard to find). We had an app called Cannon. Most colleges do have FB pages and everything. Rent also depends on how you want to live - $800-1000.
Exams
- IELTS or TEF + LOR from a prof + Resume + SOP + Indian Exam Scores [JEE/GATE] (If you have them).
- IELTS - 7.0 and grade 12th -80% and College GPA at least 7.0 for MTech/MSc. GRE is a plus if you have JEE MAINS score or GATE Scores for MTech, and French (TEF/TCF) for Quebec.
Fees
- Total Tuition - 16-20k for 1 year.
