University of Sussex Rankings 2026: Global, National & Subject-Wise Trends

• Sussex’s employability rankings and data are published on their website. I’m not aware of the current numbers. But a good percentage find employment. I do not have information on salary averages, as they vary based on location and position.
• After graduation, popular methods for finding job applications include online job boards, internal job boards for companies, referrals through networking, and cold outreach.

• Research online via Google and the University of Sussex web FAQs. My rent was roughly £980 for uni accom. It would have been cheaper to rent outside, but I preferred being on campus for the year. I had an ensuite bathroom, Wi-Fi, and bills included in this rent

• 70% of the graduating batch secure employment within 6 months. however it is slightly more difficult for international students, especially because they require sponsorship, which is why companies can be hesitant to give you the jobs unless you are a very well-rounded candidate applying to a big enough firm.
• An average salary range post-graduation starts from 28,000 pounds to 40,000 pounds depending on your job, company and degree
• there are internships which should definitely be taken if you have no work experience, besides that there are multiple volunteering opportunities and networking can be a seamless process since sussex holds multiple career fairs.
• One of my seniors got placed in deloitte as a tax analyst right after her graduation. She shared that interviewing is a crucial part, and nailing it is essential. companies mostly look for a well-rounded person, who has had least some sort of previous experience

• I found accommodation using my university website during my 1st year, when i lived on campus. for off campus houses, there are multiple websites, like eightfold, on the market, etc., and student accommodations have their own websites, which advertise an array of room options according to your convenience.
• Monthly rent for university accommodation – 760 pounds, facilities included: ensuite room, fully equiped kitchen with ovens, kettles, microwaves, gas stoves, seating areas, fridges, porch area and furniture inside the room, including bed, wardrobe, mirror, study table and storage space
• Some advice for anyone looking accommodation is please start searching for them early on, because all the good accommodations tend to be gone by the end of November or December; hence, try finding before that
• My current accommodation is 20 minutes away from the university via a bus. Most of the indian students stay in student accommodations since they are quite convenient.
   

• Job Opportunities - At Sussex, around 70-80% of graduates secure full-time jobs within 6 months of completing their course. Average starting salaries range from 25,000 to 32,000 pounds. Students find jobs through university career services, job fairs, internships and online platforms. Highest salaries can reach 50000+ pounds. While entry-level roles may start at 22,000 pounds.

• The process of finding Accommodation - I found my accommodation mainly through online platforms like UniHomes and Rightmove, which made the search easier. Challenges Included high demand and limited options close to campus. I recommend starting early, visiting properties if possible, and connecting with current students for reliable advice.

• Less than 1% (in the case of master's students) of the batch secures employment within 6 months of completing their course. PhD students will go for PostDoc or purse similar opportunities
• For master's graduates, £30,000-40,000. For PhDs, £50,000 is the average salary.
• Hardly 1-2 in a batch of 150-200 got placed in a good company. Market hass not been good in the UK in the last 2-3 years.

• I found my accommodation via the uni portal. I stayed on campus. Since I was a late joinee, I did not get uni accommodation right away. There's a massive accommodation crisis in Brighton. It's very difficult to find a place within your budget near to the uni. My recommendation would be to stay on campus if you can afford it.
• While outside might be slightly cheaper, the overall quality of your life reduces, which will affect your studies. At least half the Indian students would live on campus, as it's easier. While campus accommodation is not the cheapest, outside rents are not too cheap either. My rent was £800 per month on average, including bills. Next year might be up by another 15% because of the inflation.

• There are plenty of good opportunities if you apply from the very first day of the university in your field. Keep connecting with industry people; they can help a lot, and I had an offer at the end of the course, so seek out placement departments on your campus and see, If 50 per cent of the batch covers the job. 28000 pounds is the average salary per year for 2 years or 1 year of experience, depending on the company.

• There are multiple platforms to find the housing accommodations online. I had received one through a friend of mine but there are plenty of websites where you can see the post on the university webpage there is a separate page for accommodation where people keep posting the accomodation, then whatsapp group; you can connect with people from the same course in whatsapp ask them for accommodation.

• I have not yet completed my degree yet, dont have idea for this question.

• Campus is very close to train station, and express way so it makes very convenient to commute, even if u dont live on campus.

There are career fairs throughout the year that call for companies to come. These include big organisations like NHS, EY, American Express etc. These are for all backgrounds.

The campus had this lively vibe, and I loved the mix of people from different backgrounds. The interdisciplinary approach to learning was refreshing—it made me see connections between subjects I never thought of before. The campus itself is gorgeous, surrounded by greenery. It's the kind of place where you can find a peaceful spot to study or just chill. The focus on research was impressive, and I got to explore topics that truly fascinated me. Of course, like any journey, there were challenges, but the overall experience was definitely worth it. Sussex has this unique blend of academic excellence and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it memorable.

Because I liked that it was in Brighton and the course was extremely interesting to me. I get to learn contemporary issues that relate to my interests as well as gain skills that employers are keen for students to have. I also heard really good things about it and upon visiting really like the atmosphere of the campus.

I liked it's close proximity to my home town and have always enjoyed going to Brighton. The university has a good reputation and good job prospects also and seemed like the ideal fit for me at the time.
